The freedom charter in plain stone
You may run, study, share, and modify Prism Launcher under GNU General Public License version 3. Any redistributed build must pass the same freedoms to the next keeper downstream.
The charter covers launcher software only. Minecraft assets, Mojang services, and third-party mods keep their own terms and gates.
Ethics
Community stance
Prism Launcher is forged for user freedom and honest redistribution. It does not claim Mojang endorsement. Community packagers should mark origin, version, and checksums clearly—no false relics.

Read the repository layout before you trust a binary seal. Match release tags to the version carved on the download page.

Vault ledger
- Source
- Public GPL-3 repository—skilled keepers can trace every change between release stones.
- Builds
- Favor official channel artifacts and published checksums over unmarked mirrors.
- Warnings
- SmartScreen and antivirus heuristics measure reputation. They signal doubt, not final verdict.
- Mods
- Third-party jars live outside the launcher charter. Vet packs like any executable you would drop into a world folder.
- Accounts
- Microsoft login flows reach Mojang or Microsoft services. Prism stores session data locally for instance use.
- Scope
- This ruins site describes Prism Launcher. It does not replace legal counsel or platform policy scrolls.
Malware clarification
What a flag usually means
Game launchers trip heuristic engines because they fetch libraries, spawn Java, and write instance chambers. A quarantine after an official install is often a false alarm—still restore carefully and re-check hashes. See Guides for antivirus steps.

- Honor the Minecraft EULA and local law.
- Install only mods and packs you have vetted.
- Back up worlds before large version shifts.
- Never leak account credentials in logs or screenshots.
